Museums in Thessaloniki

During the hot summer months in Thessaloniki, it is not very likely to rain. But just for the case, the city also offers a lot of museums, dedicated to almost any topic or time. Just think about the already mentioned culture museum in the White Tower, or the prision museum up in the Acropolis; or the exposition in Atatürk’s birth house.

Also, if you are rather a lover of modern art, Thessaloniki will not disappoint you. There is the State Museum of Contemporary Art (SMCA), the Municipal Art Gallery and, as well, the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, all three of them with collections that are worth seeing. The expositions host not only works of national artists but also of international names like Salvador Dali, Joseph Beuys or Niki de Saint-Phalle.
