Moving Around

Urban transport in Thessaloniki is always by bus or taxi. The bus net is excellent and the ticket costs only about fifty Euro-cents, is valid during seventy minutes and allows changing the bus. By bus you can also reach the city’s beaches.

Taxis fares are about one Euro per kilometre. There are no other public transport mediums in Thessaloniki, but since 2006 the city is constructing its first metro line. Planned to be about ten kilometres long and with thirteen stops, it is expected to open in 2013.
