Sights: Greek/Roman Times
A walk in Thessaloniki needs to be planned well – and, in summer, should be undertaken with enough cool drinks taken along. Already for the earliest periods there are a lot of sights. High above the city, the Acropolis is waiting. It has a citadel with ten towers, which was used as a prison until 1989.
The rests of Galerius’ Emperor Palace still recall the glory of Roman times. There is also the Galerius Arch, near Via Egnatia, in memory of the regent. Ancient flair can also be breathed in the Forum Romanum, still dipposing of its old theatre.
