Ouzo - A Divine Drink

That brings us to another point: wherever you are roaming in Thessaloniki, never forget about famous ouzo. This drink is made of pure alcohol, adquiring its incomparable taste especially by adding anise.

Ouzo is a protected denomination: similar to tequila, a name that only can be given to agave spirits made in Mexico, ouzo can only be called what has been produced in Greece or Cyprus.

Whereas outside Greece ouzo is sometimes drank pure, in spite of its fourty percent of alcohol, this is not too usual in Greece. Here you will take your ouzo with ice and water, and mix it to a milky liquid according to your own taste.
